Assessment Tasks

Copy and paste from the following data to produce each assessment task. Write these in plain English and spell out how, when and where the task is to be carried out, under what conditions, and what resources are needed. Include guidelines about how well the candidate has to perform a task for it to be judged satisfactory.
Copy and paste from the following performance criteria to create an observation checklist for each task. When you have finished writing your assessment tool every one of these must have been addressed, preferably several times in a variety of contexts. To ensure this occurs download the assessment matrix for the unit; enter each assessment task as a column header and place check marks against each performance criteria that task addresses.

Discuss timing and process for detailing of columns with fabricator to ensure suitability for fabrication schedules 
Analyse column design information to identify all column connections 
Elect vertical or horizontal detailing position and viewing direction to suit client requirements and drawing office practice 
Insert dimensions for columns from design information 
Draw sectional views for splices as per design information 
Draw plan views for intermediate sections to illustrate required connections 
Insert direction and level marks as well as shim and lifting hitches as required according to design information 
Identify welded and bolted splices from design information 
Identify and check splices to be field welded with fabricator 
Ensure welder and electrode accessibility for field welded splices 
Detail column or beam splice according to design information 
Establish working points and bevels from design information 
Draw layouts for joints using appropriate scale 
Note and use opportunities for symmetry and rotation in layouts with approval of fabricator 
Dimension trusses including placement of working dimensions, intermediate panel points, other reference points and camber allowances for cambered trusses 
Set out bolted gussets for node points using design information and fabricator preferences 
Detail node points for welded trusses including set back of member ends and landing for welds using design information and fabricator preferences 
Determine layout and size of bracing from design information 
Determine setting out points and distances between setting out points 
Detail and draw braces including bracing connections and any allowances for clearances 
Determine layout and type of purlins, girts and eave struts to be used from design information, manufacturer catalogues and fabricator preferences 
Determine bridging for purlins and girts from design information 
Detail purlins, girts and eaves consistent with design information
